Habitats: Litoral marshes and riparian. Non-saline wetlands (intermittent watercourses, streams, artesian wells, ditches). Salt marshes.
Characteristics: This Carex lives in wet areas, characterized by the male flower spicules, situated upon a pedicel, while female spicules are located below, emerging from a bractal axil. Never the less, for classification, as for all Carex, it would be prudent to use an identification key.
