Characteristics: A relatively large herbaceous plant, since it reaches one metre in height, it has lanceolate leaves. The flowers are grouped in spikes at the top of the plants, often hanging down; the flowers are pink. The stems are reddish and, like all the species of this genus, have membranous structures (the ochrea) surrounding the stems where the leaves are introduced. It lives near moist zones, it is quite a rare plant in the islands. It flowers in autumn.
