Habitats: Hedges. Cultivated fields, path and road sides, disturbed zones. Open areas of holm oak forest and garriques.

Characteristics: A tree that can grow to 3 m. in height. Stems are reddish and at times covered with spiny appendages. The characteristic of this rose is the strong apply odour released by the leaves, which also have very evident brown coloured glands located along the margin. Inflorescences are multifloral, with white flowers (2-3, 5 cm. in diameter) and v-shaped. When mature, the fruit sloughs off the bracts. Urnula is dark red in colour.

Observations: A classification key is indispensable to correctly identify all of the rose e species.
