Characteristics: The calyces of this species are very velvety, and after flowering, swell likes a spherical balloon, and this provides a very interesting character for identification. Trifolium fragiferum also has inflated and velvety calyces, but the inflorescence of this one has an elongated peduncle, while those of T. tomentosum have a short peduncle(shorter than the corresponding leaf).
