Characteristics: This Leguminosae has quite round leaflets compared to other species of Lotus and is covered in quite long hairs which give it a characteristic texture. The flowers are yellow and there is usually only 1 to 3 per stalk. The pod is straight and widely exceeds the calyx; this feature allows us to distinguish it from Lotus parviflorus in which neither the flower nor the pod exceed the calyx. It lives in soils without carbonates. It flowers in spring.
