Habitats: Cultivated fields, path and road sides, disturbed zones. Non-saline wetlands (intermittent watercourses, streams, artesian wells, ditches). Humid soils.
Characteristics: An annual plant with ascendant stems (up to 60 cm.), which distinguishes it from the rest of the buttercup species mainly by: leaves petiolate, trilobite and 1-3 dentate; the upper leaves are sub sessile. The flowers are a brilliant yellow (up to 16 cm. in diameter) opposite the leaves; the sepals are reflexed and membranous. The achenes (seeds) are lenticular with a thick margin and tuberculate lateral faces.
