Characteristics: A perennial plant (resprouts each year) form ascending pilose stems (up to 50 cm.) that form a well developed leaf basal rosette. Differs from the rest of the species of buttercups mainly by: pilose basal leaves, some lobate while others more deeply divided. Flowers are large (35 mm. in diameter) and yellow in colour with patent sepals at the petals. The achene (seeds) are compressed and needled with a straight beak. Some of the roots are fibrous while others are tuberous.
