Habitats: Xero-acanthic shrubs of the mountanous regions, and steppe-grasslands of Ampelodesmos mauritanica. Garden plants. Small shady banks or slopes. Shady paths, torrents and caves in the mountains of Mallorca.
Characteristics: A small plant that grows prostrate, forming carpets of up to several square metres in surface area. Often used in landscaping for this property, and can be found in a wide range of urban places and spaces. Can be recognized by its small, rounded leaves with an asymmetrical base. Flowers are minute, difficult to see and unisexual. In Baleares, only can be found in some shady spots in the Serra de Tramuntana, also can be found in growing wild in other islands of the Western Mediterranean.
