Characteristics : A climbing plant with large sagitate leaves, very showy white flowers that are funnel- shaped when open. Can be distinguished from other species of the genus Ipomoea as the rest the bracteoles of the calyx are narrow instead instead of being wide and folioceous. Confusion may also arise with the subspecies sepium, which has slightly more sagittate leaves and in addition, the calyx bracteoles are not superimposed or only slightly, while for C. sepium subsp. silvatica they are neatly superimposed.
Observations : Generally lives in torrents and reedbeds, in the Balearic Islands the fructification has not been observed (to the contrary of the subspecies subsp. Sepium) and for that reason we believe that the species has been introduced.
Status : Alien species.
