Characteristics : A very common Graminea that is also very easy to identify. The spikelets are directed all to one side, and reunite forming asymmetric clusters. Can be distinguished form the other subspecies principally by its narrower and shorter (1,5 – 6 cm.) panicle.
Observations : Les diferències entre les subspècies ibizensis i hispanica són molt subtils, de fet el caràcter més important és el nombre de cromosomes: subsp. ibizensis té el nombre diploide de 14 cromosomes, mentre que la subsp. hispanica és un tetraploid amb 28 cromosomes, al igual que la subspècie típica.
Status : Endèmica.
