Distribution in the islands : Mallorca. Minorca.

Life-forms : Macrophanerophyte.

Habitat : Parks and gardens. Naturalizated.

Characteristics : A shrub that grows to 5 m. in height. The spoon shaped leaves are coriaceous and with a marked nerve on the face; are grouped at the outer branches. Flowers can be yellow or white, aromatic. The fruit is formed by three valves, that when open display brownish-reddish seeds.

Observations : Molt emprada com ornamental pel seus fullatge i flors oloroses. És resistent a la contaminació atmosfèrica i suporta bé la vida a les grans ciutats. Es pot naturalitzar al medi natural, sovint a zones litorals.

Status : Alien species.

Origen : Territoris que rodegen el mar de Xina

Location on-campus UIB : Relativament freqüent al Jardí de Son Lledó.
