    Province distribution : Balearic Islands.

Distribution in the islands : Cabrera. Dragonera. Formentera. Ibiza. Mallorca. Minorca.

    General distribution : Mediterranean (Balearic)

Habitat : Rock creviceses and cliff faces, holm oak forest.

    IUCN Category : Poco preocupante

Characteristics : This is a plant which forms carpets of very thin, dark green leaves that are rough to the touch. The flowers, which pass unnoticed as in the majority of the Carex, are found at the top of a filiform leaf-stalk. It lives in small, muddy, shady banks, often with other endemisms which live in these environments such as Sibthorpia africana and Erodium reichardii. We can distinguish it from other species of Carex because it forms dense carpets and because its leaves are very short.

    Status : Endèmica.
