Spanish common name : Pino canario.
Province distribution : Balearic Islands.
General distribution : Macaronesian
Life-forms : Macrophanerophyte.
Habitat : Cultivated specie. Gardens.
IUCN Category : Poco preocupante
Characteristics : This pine is endemic to the Canary islands, we can often find it in gardens in the Balearics, we have never seen it naturalized or subspontaneous. It is very easily recognisable because the leaves are grouped in threes, instead of being in pairs like in the Mediterranean pines, moreover the leaves are very long and hang down. These features make the image of this tree very different to the native pines in the Balearics, for this particular reason they are grown in gardens, for their exotic, curious appearence.
