Description : A medium sized deciduous tree not reaching over 10-12 m in height. The crown is usually rounded. Leaves are simple with a finely toothed margin, ovate to elliptic, 4-13 cm in length, an intense green on the obverse, pubescent on the reverse side of the leaf. Flowers are large, some 2.5 to 4 cm in diameter, white with purple or rose spots, grouped in racemes at the lateral branch ends. The fruit, the apple, is smooth with a navelate indentation at each end.
