Characteristics : A tree which can reach up to 25 m in height, yet is generally shorter. In the islands it has been planted in gardens and along roadsides, it lives as a subspontaneous in many places. It is originally from North America. It has composite leaves with several pairs of oval leaflets and one terminal one; it is deciduous in winter. The flowers are white, grouped in dense racemes which hang down in a very visible way. The fruits are pods which can be up to 10 cm long, brown, with very marked seeds in the valves. It flowers at the end of spring.
