Characteristics : A plant that can develop a trunk up to 1,8 m. in height. Forms a rosette with 20-30 enormous leaves (up to 36 cm. in width and 2 m. in length) dark green or greyish in colour. Leaves are acannulate and doubled towards the apex with an undulate margin. The terminal spine is long (up to 10 cm.), rigid, dark brown and turning greyish with age and largely decurrent. The inflorescence is 7 to 8 m. in height with 15 to 20 ramifications and yellow flowers that tinge red when in the floral bud stage.
Observations : There are many known cultivated varieties.
Status : Alien species.
