    Characteristics : This species pertains to the group of Ophrys fusca, of which it shares transition features. The flowers have a large trilobate labellum with a dark velvety covering. The top of the labellum has a blue spot bordered by a white line in the form of the letter W, this character makes an easy identification and was responsible for being formerly named Ophrys fusca subsp. omegaifera. Flowers at the beginning of spring, from March to April.
