Characteristics: This plant is an endemism of pine woods and garrigues (Mediterranean woodland) in Mallorca. It is a rounded bush armed with numerous thorns, and very few small, entire leaves. It can be found living alongside the thorny broom (Calicotome spinosa), but the latter is taller, less compact and has trifoliate leaves.
