Characteristics: A deciduous tree, that is not very tall and with small hanging branches. Leaves are bipinnate where the pinnae emerge from the same origin. The leaf raquis has a series of spines. Each pinna is made up of numerous alternate folioles. The flowers are arranged in axillary racemes, yellow in colour with purple spots. The fruit is pod shaped (a legume) 3-14 cm. in length, elongate and compressed between the seeds.
