Characteristics: A Gramene found in garrigues (Mediterranean woodland) and pine woods; it is perennial and forms small carpets. It is characteristic for its small spikes which are peduncled as in all the Avena and Avenula, and they have awns which, when they ripen, remain bent over more or less double. The whole plant is yellowish-green. It flowers at the end of spring.
