To the contrary, once flowering has passed, it is difficult to tell the thin, characteristic leaves of this species form other similar plants that occupy the same habitat, such as: Scilla autumnalis, Narcisus serotinus, Romulea columnae, Allium sps. etc.; although the leaf of Merendera filifolia does have a "V" -shaped cross section which is distinct from the others.
