Description: A deciduous tree that can each up to 30 m in height, pyramidal in shape and smooth whitish bark. Branches are straight and the small one pubescent. Leaves are round, slightly acuminate with a heart shaped base. Measure from 5 to 12.5 cm in length and a few cm in width. The margin often has small lobes, at times with a double set of sharp teeth. The lamina is a dark green in colour, slightly pubescent on the obverse with silvery tufts on the reverse. Flowers are white, aromatic and arranged in chains of 5-10 flowers. Long and pubescent floral bracts. Fruits are ovoid and pubescent.
Observations: There are many attributes for the leaves of the lime tree; some are well know, as are the sedative properties of its flowers and bracts.
