Habitats: Non-saline wetlands (intermittent watercourses, streams, artesian wells, ditches). Herbaceous communities close to artesian wells, ditches.
Characteristics: A small plant that lives prostrate on the ground in many very damp places where water trickles from springs. It has opposite, circular leaves, less than a centimetre long, which are found directly on the stem, without a leaf-stalk. The flowers are pinkish or whitish. The filiform aspect of the stems, the fact that the stems can produce roots and the colour of the flowers, clearly differentiate it from Anagallis arvensis which is a common plant found everywhere. It flowers practically in summer. It is a rare plant in the Balearics, and is only found in the mountains.
