Characteristics: A species that lives along the beaches and coastal dunes. Frequently takes on reddish hues. Can be recognized by its elongate awns, as the majority of the psammophilous (lit. sand-loving, prefers sandy soils), the Gramineae do not. Flowers at the beginning of the summer.
