Characteristics: This Gramene has a panicle with fewer flowers than subsp major and with more open branches, moreover the leaves are narrower. It lives in the cracks in the rocks. It can be mistaken for Oryzopsis coerulescens, which lives in the same environments, but in this species the flowers of the spikelets have a small awn whereas Melica is not awned.
