Characteristics: This is a small Gramene which can be distinguished by its long awns sticking out of each of the bracts of the spikelets. All in all, the inflorescence is short, with the most visible feature, the awns sticking out. It lives in dry meadows of garrigues (Mediterranean woodland) and along roadsides.
