Habitats: Cultivated fields, path and road sides, disturbed zones. Fields and herbaceous communities.
Characteristics: This plant, which can be found in the open fields, stands out because of its brightly-coloured red petals; if we are not alert, we could mistake it for a poppy, but it is easy to tell between them because these petals have a glossy shine. Besides, it does not form a capsule like the Papaver but rather each flower forms many small fruits grouped together in a long inflorescence. The leaves are greatly divided. It flowers at the beginning of spring, around the month of March.
