Description: A bush or small tree of some 2 to 5 m in height. Leaves fall in the winter and re-emerge one in front of the other with a well developed petiole, leaves are simple, entire, obovate with base rounded or heart shaped, and measure from 4 to 10 cm in length. Flowers are lilac or white and have large inflorescences that are borne laterally at the branch ends. The fruit is a dry capsule that is blackish upon maturing, slight elongate to ovoid in form.
Observations: Grown as an ornamental plant, is very appreciated for it flowers that give off a very agreeable perfume.
