Uses and properties: Furniture, construction and tools. Symbolic uses.

Habitats: Garden plants. Gardens and sometimes subespontaneous.

Characteristics: The common cypress is not a tree that is typical of our flora. It has been widely used for gardens and to make wind breaks. It could be confused with junipers, because both have scale-shaped leaves, but the common cypress forms unmistakable, rounded pine cones. The typical shape of a cypress (with its branches pointing upwards) is a cultivated variety as the wild trees have open branches.
