Characteristics: An aquatic, rhizomatous, and very robust perennial plant. Leaves are very long and linear, in the same that the inflorescence is cylindrical and supported by a central stem. Differs from T. latifolia as the female and male inflorescences of this later species are practically adjacent (T. angustifolia are separated by an open space of some 12 cm.)
