Characteristics: A succulent plant made up of a rosette of red leaves with white spots on the leaf face and spines along the margin. Cannot be confused with A. vera as A.maculata has shorter, wider leaves of a different colouration. Additionally, the flowers of A. maculata form compact orangish colour.
Observations: There are a handful of forms of the genus Aloe with spotted leaves, many are grown in gardens, others are various species of natural origin. Diffentiation of this complex is a diffcult process.
