Habitats: Garden plants. Non-saline wetlands (intermittent watercourses, streams, artesian wells, ditches). It is an ornamental tree, ideal for forming lines and used to provide shade, it can live up to 5 or 6 centuries.

Description: A deciduous tree that can reach a height of 25m, it has practically smooth, whitish-lead grey bark. The leaves are simple and are arranged alternately, oval-lanceolate shape, slightly asymmetrical, acuminate, with a long petiole and with a finely serrate margin. The upper side of the leaf is dark green and hairy to the touch which makes it slightly rough. There are three veins which are more obvious than the rest and the lower side is lighter and pubescent. The fruit is round and smooth, the size of a pea; at first it is green and finally almost black, it is an edible berry-like fruit with a large stone and little flesh.
