Characteristics: An evergreen herb with leaves which are joined together in a basal rosette; they are elongated but greatly divided into triangular lobules, one of which is terminal. The capitula grow on quite a long, erect peduncle; the flowers are bright yellow. It can be distinguished from Hyoseris scabra in that this is much smaller, the floral peduncles are normally lying on the ground and are short and rigid, and above all because these peduncles are inflated just below the capitulum.
