Characteristics: A woody plant which lives hanging from trees or bushes, or stuck in dry walls and rocks; it is therefore a creeper. It has opposite leaves with a dentate margin, the obverse is shiny. The flowers are white, around two centimetres long, and grow in more or less terminal racemes. When it is not in flower it can be mistaken for Clematis cirrhosa, which lives in the same habitats. The leaves of Clematis are normally deeply lobulate, then there is no possibilty of confusion, either way they are never shiny like in Prasium majus. It flowers in spring.
