Characteristics: A perennial plant with prostrate stems (up to 80 cm.) and branching from the base. The stems lacking leaves at the basal section and are densely foliose towards the apex. Leaves are alternate elliptic, fleshy and an ashy green in colour that is characteristic of the species. Flowers are axillary and not very showy. The ocrea (the tubular sheath at the base of the petiole) is transparent and very divided (laciniate).
