Characteristics: This is a delicate herb which lives in dry garrigues (Mediterranean woodland). It has a small underground bulb which produces two filiform leaves and a very thin stem which also carries flowers which are flat and sword-shaped. This stem produces the flowers, on leaf-stalks which are also very thin. The flowers are yellow, with six pieces which open out forming a star shape. It flowers in February and at the beginning of March.
