Characteristics: An annual cycle herb that lives on soils absent in carbonates, generally in the clearings of garrigues and pine forests. Leaves have many folioles; one of them serves as the terminal and has no mate. Flowers are yellow with a leaf at the base. The fruit is elongate and curved in an arc. Can be distinguished from Ornithopus pinnatus as the latter doesn't have a leaf at the base of the flowers and all leaves have a petiole. Flowers in spring from March to June.
