Characteristics: An erect Gramene, generally slightly hairy, which can be characterised by its inflorescence: it has the small, pedunculate, awned spikes, but densely displayed; the panicle may reach about ten cm. The spikelets are lanceolate, and this characteristic makes it possible to tell it from many other species of Bromus which have spikelets which get wider at the tip or have a parallel margin. It lives in moors, but also along path-sides and farmlands. It flowers towards summer.
