Description: Perennial herb of slender habit, somewhat hairy, 4-8 dm tall. Leaves ovate, entire or slightly dentate, green on both sides; basal leaves in a rosette with a long petiole, cauline leaves alternate, ovate-lanceolate, stem-clasping. Yellow flowers in solitary terminal capitula on long, glandular peduncles, 3-5 cm in diameter, with two series of linear, ciliate bracts. Fruits 2-3 mm, ribbed; the outer ones lacking pappus and the inner ones furnished with pappus.
