Habitats: Rocky surfaces and dry stone walls. Siliceous rocky outcrops and screes in areas of moderate altitude.
Characteristics: Small fern, up to 35 cm tall. The petiole and rachis are thick and reddish-brown. Blade bipinnate, dark green, with a glabrous upper surface and a lower surface densely covered with triangular scales (paleae) and fine reddish-brown hairs. Pinnules are sessile or nearly sessile, with a shape between rounded and elongated, and their margins are rolled downward, protecting the sori.
