Characteristics: Perennial herb, woody at the base. All leaves basal, with petiole roughly as long as the blade, densely hairy. Blade composed of numerous independent, sessile leaflets, deeply lobed or divided. Inflorescences borne on peduncles up to 30 cm tall, with 6-12 flowers bearing pale pink, unequal petals, the upper two often marked. Fruit divided into segments (mericarps) of 7-8 mm and a long awn of about 30-40 mm, spirally twisted when dry
