Characteristics: An erect plant that finishes into a capitulum of rose or lilac coloured flowers. The leaves are linear, and resemble those of a monocot. The stems remain bound just below the capitula. The bracts are very elongate and open outwards in the shape of a star. Can be identified by its external achenes, which have a few rigid bristles, in contrast to the central ones, which form a feathery tuft. For Tragopogon porrifolius, to the contrary, all achenes are the same size and shape. Flowers from May during the end of spring.
