Characteristics: An annual cycle herbaceous plant, individuals often found clumped together, giving a reddish colour to the fields and walkway borders where it lives. Can be identified by its rounded leaves, more wide than long, clearly opposite; the bracts resemble small casserole pans that surround the flowers. The flower tube is very long, purple and ends in two very open labia.
