Habitats: Pine wood and shrubland with rosemary and thyme garigue. Therophytic calicole fields. Garriques, therophytic communities.
Characteristics: A plant that lives in clearings of the garrigue, and at times in dry-farmed fields. A legume with composite leaves, with only two or three pairs of folioles, the apical foliole is much larger than the others. Also characteristic are the flowers, in pinkish or reddish colours, grouped in a glomerule at the apical part of the fertile stems. In the Serra de Tramuntana the subspecies balearica can be found and is distinct, as it has a greater number of foliolates, all more or less the same size. Flowers in spring during the months of April and May.
