Characteristics: Open and cool places, normally moist forest clearings and outlying areas. A perennial plant, more or less downy and can attain a height of some 2m. The leaves are ovate-lanceolate downy, thick and dentate, greyish on the reverse and reticulate-wrinkly on the face. The flowers are disposed in a unilateral bract raceme the corolla is tubular, in the form of a thimble and has a variable number of spots on the interior. The fruit is an ovoid capsule, dehiscent by septae.
