Characteristics: Found growing in shallow , rocky, dry and sunny soils: grasslands, cultivated fields, fallow land, wastelands, clearings in sub shrub formations, etc. An annual herb with little foliage. The basal leaves are scantly divided, while the caulines are pinnatisect. The involucre is narrowly oblong, purple in colour. Can be distinguished from C. crupinastrum by its achenes, of base rounded and the areola with insertion sub orbicular and sub apical.
