Characteristics: The borders of more or less moist forests, cool places, etc. Most peculiar is its flower: the perianth is formed by two whorls (verticils). The outermost is made up of five petaloid segments, caducous and pubescent. The innermost is made up of five nectariferous pieces that end in a hooked spur of some 15-22 mm., and alternates with the pieces of the outer verticil.
