Characteristics: Meadows with silicoles (acidophilic), in slightly moist areas. A small annual grass distinguishable by its very lax and open panicle, ligules 3-6 mm and pedicels 1-2 times as long as the spikelets and progressively swelling towards the apex. Differs from the other subspecies by the prescence of an awn with two flowers for each spikelet, this which measures 2 mm.
