Characteristics: This compact shrub lives in shady rock cracks at the higher elevations of the Mallorcan Tramuntana. Leaves are opposite, obovate (wider at the top) and fall off during the winter. Flowers are white and usually emerge in pairs. Fruits are red berries. Flowers in May and part of summer. Lonicera implexa, a common species, can be told aprt from the former as the latter´s inflorescence is fused at the base and flowers are yellowish with a reddish tube.
