Characteristics: An annual plant, small and not very visible, yellowish green in colour. The entire plant is covered by small hairs that give it a rough aspect. Leaves are rounded and opposite. Flowers are very small with white petals smaller than the sepals. The capsule outstretches the calyx.

Observations: C. semidecandrum is a very morphologically variable species and for this reason, many subspecies and varieties have been described. The variety linneanum is characterized by having a basal pair of sepaloid bracts and simple or irregularly dentate petals, much shorter than the stamins.
